Following the passing of the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Amendment (Real-time Prescription Monitoring) Bill 2017through Parliament in October 2017, the proposed Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Amendment (Real-time Prescription Monitoring) Regulations 2018 have been drafted to support the legislative framework for the implementation of SafeScript, Victoria’s real-time prescription monitoring system.

In accordance with the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994, a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) has been prepared in relation to the proposed Regulations.  The purpose of the RIS is to assess the magnitude of the regulatory burden that the new regulations are likely to impose on a sector of the public, and compare this with the financial and social benefits of the policy.

VAADA recently submitted their response to the RIS which you can read or download here
