VAADA is pleased to release its submission to the Yoorrook Justice Commission on the Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) System and First Peoples in Victoria.
VAADA has drawn on the insights and experiences of its members, and crucially members of the Victorian Aboriginal community, to develop its response, making a number of recommendations to make access to AOD support for First Peoples culturally safe, accessible and determined by community needs.
VAADA hopes its submission to Yoorrook plays a small role in supporting the self-determination aspirations of First Peoples in Victoria, leading to lasting change to address historic and ongoing injustice and inequity, and forge a new path for all Victorians to be safe, well and strong.
