The Prevention in Place Conference, dedicated to using place-based approaches to reduce disadvantage and improve wellbeing, will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 6 and 7, 2025.

It spans sectors dedicated to strengthening protective factors for better outcomes, including alcohol and other drugs, youth services, justice, disability, suicide prevention and mental health.

The program explores seven themes across the two days:

• Addressing interconnected social issues with place-based approaches
• Building sustainable change
• Using data to inform decisions and understand impact
• Adopting innovative approaches to evaluation
• Complexity in place – what’s working?
• Engaging communities in meaningful ways.

Hosted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, the Conference will be a first-class, evidence-based learning and networking experience for participants.
