Release of Advertised Call for Funding Submissions for service providers to operate the new Hume and Barwon alcohol and other drug residential rehabilitation facilities

Posted to ENEWS for Sheryll Kay on behalf of DHHS.

In 2018-19, the Victorian Government is investing a record $259.9 million in drug services, representing an increase in investment of 57 per cent through the last four State Budgets.

Through investment from the ice action plan and drug rehabilitation plan we will see the number of residential rehabilitation beds more than double from 208 in 2014-15 to 450 once all beds are fully operational.

As part of this investment in new services, in 2017-18 the Victorian Government provided $9.7 million to purchase land to establish three new residential rehabilitation services in Hume, Barwon and Gippsland. On 4 June 2018 it was announced that Lucknow, near Bairnsdale would be the location of the new facility for Gippsland, with Odyssey House to operate the service from late 2019.

Following this, on 27 June Wangaratta was announced as the location of the new service in Hume, and on 19 July 2018 Corio was announced as the location of the new service in Barwon. The Victorian Government is pleased to announce that the call for submissions process to identify providers for the Corio and Wangaratta services is now open.

We invite you to participate in this process and more information can be found at
