Official: Invitation from the DHHS to lodge a submission for funding – AOD COVID Workforce Initiative

Message on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services

The Department of Health and Human Services invites state-funded Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) service providers to lodge a submission for funding as part of the AOD COVID Workforce Initiative.

As part of the 2020-21 budget, the Victorian government is investing $25.62 million over two years to employ 100 new AOD workers to address the impacts of COVID-19. These new workers will provide support to Victorians who have disengaged from treatment during the pandemic, along with those on waiting lists for residential alcohol and other drug treatment.

In line with Victoria’s alcohol and other drugs workforce strategy 2018-2022, recruitment will focus on building a skilled, available and sustainable workforce that meets the needs of people experiencing substance-related harm in metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria.

To obtain documentation detailing the invited submission process, requirements and avenues for further information email AOD.enquiries@dhhs.vic.gov.au.
