Nicotine e-cigarettes for smoking cessation following discharge from smokefree inpatient AOD withdrawal services: A pragmatic randomized controlled trial, presented by Professor Billie Bonevski
E-cigarettes containing nicotine (e-cigarettes) have demonstrated effectiveness for smoking cessation among general populations, but limited evidence in people with substance use disorders (SUD).
This presentation will focus on the NEAT Trial, a pragmatic, two-arm, open-label parallel-group randomized controlled trial (n=363) examining the effectiveness of e-cigarettes for smoking abstinence in people with SUD following discharge from smokefree inpatient withdrawal services.
Professor Billie Bonevski is Dean (Research), Director of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI), and Matthew Flinders Professor of Public Health at the College of Medicine and Public Health, Flinders University. She is a Behavioural Scientist recognised internationally for her research examining ways to assist people in priority population groups to reduce tobacco smoking.
