BreakThrough – Families Understanding Addiction: Family Relationships

1 March 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

Free

Overview

Since 2015, this unique program has helped family members across Victoria better understand addictive behaviours, improve communication and wellbeing, and access appropriate support networks. BreakThrough offers practical strategies and provides an opportunity for family/friends/partners of people with addictive behaviours to connect and learn from each other.

Online BreakThrough sessions go for 1 hour and cover topics relevant to families who are dealing with a loved one’s drug use. Some content will be specific to substance misuse, other material will cover addictive behaviours more broadly.

It’s important to note that BreakThrough is an education program and while each session includes group discussion about a particular topic or theme, people requiring more intensive support in relation to their own circumstances are strongly encouraged to contact Family Drug and Gambling Help on 1300 660 068 to speak to a trained volunteer with personal experience of a loved one’s drug use.

Participants registering for online sessions of BreakThrough will be sent a confirmation email with information about how to join the session.

*Please note that BreakThrough is based in Melbourne, Australia and this event will take place in Australian Daylight Savings Time (DST).
