In an era where gender diversity is reshaping the landscape of healthcare, how inclusive are our frontline AOD services for transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse (TGD) clients? This presentation will dive into a groundbreaking mixed-methods research study, conducted in collaboration with Monash University and Turning Point. This study administered two validated surveys (The Trans inclusive Behaviour Scale and the Trans inclusive Provider Scale) to 80 AOD workers of public residential AOD services in Victoria, to determine rates of TGD inclusion in our sector. Combined with quantitative interviews conducted with leading sector experts, this presentation will highlight critical insights on the barriers that TGD people face in accessing AOD care, and the urgent need for policy clarity and specialised training, to drive inclusion, ensuring equitable service delivery across the sector, specifically, for TGD Victorians.
