In a post-COVID world of increased demand and complex challenges, Uniting’s Family Counselling team innovatively engages families to strengthen AOD treatment outcomes. We present a case study demonstrating how the reflective team process empowers families as vital resources in recovery. By modelling systemic collaboration, we guide families to support loved ones undergoing AOD treatment effectively. Our approach illustrated through work with a family of six, builds competence, confidence, and validation among family members. This process enables a resourceful home environment conducive to personal growth and improved relationships. Our method exemplifies how the AOD sector can adapt to changing circumstances by harnessing existing tools and family dynamics to enhance treatment efficacy and long-term recovery support.
