The high prevalence of co-occurring substance use and other mental health conditions is associated with poorer outcomes in well-being, quality of life, and recovery. Although integrated care (IC) is widely supported to improve treatment outcomes, achieving this in clinical practice remains challenging. This presentation reports qualitative findings from co-designed workshops with more than 40 stakeholders from across Victoria exploring barriers and opportunities relating to providing integrated care. Themes focus on the current and future state of IC and challenges in implementing IC delivery across organisations. Findings highlight the need for multifaceted strategies targeting capacity building, culture, change management, and policy levers. These findings seek to inform the development of a best practice model of IC and ongoing initiatives of the Hamilton Centre that are relevant across both AOD and mental health sectors.
