Power to change: incorporating digital technology into AOD treatment programs

In 2022, Caraniche developed a digitally-enhanced treatment program for problematic substance use which combines six 40-minute clinician-led telehealth sessions with a mix of between-session and in-session digital activities.  The ‘Power to Change’ program is hosted on a digital platform which clients access via their smart device, and allows integration with the clinical record and embedded video conferencing to provide a seamless client experience.

This presentation by Caraniche’s Design and Clinical teams includes a video tour of the program from the client’s perspective, a summary of utilisation, outcome and feedback data, and a case study from the clinical facilitator.  The program has achieved high completion rates, high levels of client satisfaction, and improvements in psychological wellbeing and reductions in substance use. The digital elements of the program reduced time spent on administration and data management.
