Job Description

Role: Integrated Alcohol and Other Drug & Mental Health Clinician

Employment type: Maximum term

Time fraction:  Part-time - Full time: 30-38 hours per week

Is this you?

You are a qualified clinician with experience in mental health and alcohol and other drug work. You understand the complexity of substance use, recovery and relapse, and you are motivated by supporting people through change. You bring the professional judgement and emotional steadiness this work requires.

You think in collaboration, not silos. Mental health and AOD do not sit separately in your practice, they are connected, and your work reflects that.

You see the person

You look beyond diagnosis, behaviour or circumstance. You meet people without judgement and with genuine curiosity about their story. You understand that recovery looks different for everyone, and you respect autonomy while providing clear, consistent support. You value culturally safe practice and understand that trust is built over time.

You communicate clearly, document properly and follow through, because continuity of care matters.

You care

You care about delivering integrated, person-centred support. You value working in a multidisciplinary team and contributing to a service that responds to the real needs of the community.

Your new role

We are continuing to strengthen our integrated Mental Health and AOD team and are recruiting additional clinicians to join the service.

This role sits within the Step Thru Care program, an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug service delivered in partnership across the region.

As an Integrated Mental Health and AOD Clinician, you will provide assessment, therapeutic intervention, care planning and treatment coordination for people experiencing mental health and or substance use concerns.

The program focuses on timely access, counselling, collaborative care and warm referrals, ensuring people are connected to the most appropriate support in their local area.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary, multi-agency team and work across the lifespan.

Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Mental Health or Alcohol and Other Drugs.

Eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body is required.
