- Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time available (A total of 1.1 permanent FTE is available; this will be shared between successful applicants)
- Salary: HN15-59 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging
About the role
This is an opportunity for dynamic Addiction Psychiatrists and Addiction Medicine Specialists to join the Addiction Medicine team at Western Health.
The Specialist Addiction Services of Western Health offer innovative and diverse programs including Dual Diagnosis Services, Residential Services, Custodial Programs, Specialist Outpatient Programs, Youth & Family Services and Hospital Inpatient Addiction Medicine Services. We provide specialist services for patient groups marked by significant trauma and marginalisation, and a broad range of co-existing and complex needs. Addiction Medicine and Psychiatry consultants support patients and staff across these programs by providing expert clinical care and clinical direction.
The successful applicants will join Victoria's largest Addiction Medicine team of eight consultants, eight registrars, three HMOs and six nurse practitioners.
Consultants are currently being recruited for roles focussed on New Footscray Hospital, including the Mental Health/AOD Hub in the emergency department; but will also support other programs.
Key responsibilities:
This position requires an appropriately qualified and clinically experienced Consultant in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry. The position will include the following responsibilities:
- Addiction Specialist clinical care to consumers of Drug Health Services and Western Health.
- Clinical leadership and clinical governance to clinical programs of Drug Health Services and Western Health.
- Work closely with Director of Drug Health Services, Head of Unit for Addiction Medicine, and Program Managers to plan and co-ordinate services to ensure that the goals of the Best Care Framework are achieved.
- Junior Medical Staff Supervision and support Specialist Training
- Contribution to evaluation, improvement and research initiatives.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have recognised qualifications as a Consultant Psychiatrist (FRANZCP, Advanced Certificate in Addiction Psychiatry preferred) or Addiction Medicine (FAChAM).
- Have well-developed professional communication and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated commitment to professional development of yourself and others.
- Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and delivery of evidence-based best care is essential. You contribute to a positive organisational culture and role model professionalism with respect to patient dignity and compassion, effective communication, and ethical clinical care.
- Have experience in and enjoy teaching and supervision of Junior Medical Staff, Medical Students and the broader team.
- Be involved in service evaluation and audits and will be encouraged to be involved in research activities.
