About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AOD Program Manager to lead our specialist Alcohol and Other Drugs program in Victoria.

This senior leadership role is responsible for the clinical and operational oversight of AOD services supporting LGBTIQ+ communities and people living with or affected by HIV. Reporting to the Manager, Therapeutic Services, you will lead senior staff, strengthen service delivery, and contribute to strategic partnerships across the sector.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Lead high-quality AOD service delivery using harm reduction and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Supervise senior staff and outreach programs.
  • Support service development, quality improvement and program reporting.
  • Strengthen partnerships across the AOD and community services sectors.
  • Contribute to workforce leadership, performance and program growth.

About you

You will have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline, as well as:

  • Certificate IV in AOD (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).
  • Extensive leadership experience in AOD or therapeutic services.
  • Strong clinical capability across trauma-informed practice, motivational interviewing, harm minimisation and related therapeutic modalities.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to affirming practice with LGBTIQ+ communities and people living with HIV.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or a related discipline and/or other relevant experience.
  • Certificate IV in AOD or equivalent, or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association (e.g., AASW, AHPRA, APS).
  • Specialist expertise in, and demonstrated experience of, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including comprehensive clinical skills in a range of modalities including, but not limited to trauma-informed practice, harm minimisation approaches, motivational interviewing, strengths-based approaches, acceptance and commitment therapy, narrative therapy, family and systemic therapy, crisis and suicide prevention interventions.
  • A proven ability to develop, coach, manage and lead a team of clinicians to deliver quality therapeutic practice, including the ability to respond to crises and emergencies.
  • Well-developed ethical and authentic leadership style that can model desired behaviours and create a healthy and effective team environment that balances individual and organisational needs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in advancing external partnerships, with service providers and other stakeholders, to enhance care pathways and build sector capacity.
  • Excellent time management and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced computer skills and competencies, including report writing.
  • A demonstrated understanding and awareness of structural and social inequities which discriminate against LGBTIQ+ people and communities, and people living with HIV, and willingness to work with these communities in a respectful, warm and affirming manner.
  • Sound knowledge and familiarity of AOD and/or family violence frameworks, related policies and legislation.
  • Additional qualifications in leadership and/or management.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
