First Aid Trainer Assessor 

  • Casual/or may suit an independent contractor 
  • Footscray 
  • $52.76 per hour including casual loading plus super.

Role Purpose:   

The role of First Aid Trainer/Assessor is to contribute to the training and development of adult learners who are part of the alcohol and other drugs and allied workforces and or those seeking to enter the workforce. The role may also contribute to the revision and evaluation of learning and assessment materials and strategies related to the delivery of first aid competencies.

This position is focused on delivery and assessment of First Aid training.

Key Selection Criteria

Key areas of focus:    

  • Facilitating training and assessment of the first aid competencies to diverse groups of adult learners
  • Liaising with a team of student administrators and coordinators for the scheduling of first aid training programs
  • Ensuring all assessment outcomes are recorded accurately in the Odyssey student management system within defined timelines
  • Ensuring that all training and assessment and related student administration carried out meet the requirements of the Australian
  • Qualifications Framework, Standards of the National VET Regulator and funding agreements of the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) Skills First Contract
  • Participating in activities that aim to promote and improve ways of working including validation and quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to the continuing development of OV Child Safety policy and procedures and ensure that all staff and program areas promote and adhere to child safe practices.
  • Actively promote and adhere to the OV Child Safety policy and procedures to assist OV to maintain a Child Safe Organisation and support colleagues to engage in child safe practices.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and apply inclusive practice when working with people from diverse communities, such as cultures, genders, sexualities, bodies, abilities, spiritualities, ages and backgrounds
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance and application of intersectionality when working with people from all cultures, genders, sexualities, bodies, abilities, spiritualities, ages and backgrounds

To be successful in this role, you must meet these requirements…    

  1. TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
  1. Relevant and current competencies in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  1. Proven ability to engage successfully with diverse adult learners, and use adaptive methods to ensure success of learners
  1. Ability to draw on professional and clinical expertise and practice to implement engaging training and assessment of First Aid competencies
  1. Current and relevant industry experience as a first aider
  1. Ability to liaise and communicate effectively within a team committed to excellent customer service and quality outcomes
  1. Ability to write or edit learning and assessment materials, apply sound instructional design, either collaboratively or independently
  1. Proven understanding of the vocational education and training system, including the requirements of DJSIR: Skills First funding contracts and the National VET Regulator
  1. Proven ability to solve problems and conflict situations within the workplace
  1. Knowledge and commitment to professional and agency ethics, boundaries, and practices
  1. Knowledge and commitment to professional requirements of the Australian Resuscitation Council, agency ethics, boundaries, and practices
