Join Our Team at Omnia Community Health
From 1 January 2026, Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health and Nexus Primary Health have merged to form a new, unified not-for-profit community health organisation, Omnia Community Health. This decision followed an extensive exploration process that confirmed the merger will improve access to safe, high-quality, and sustainable health and community services across the Hume, Macedon Ranges, Mitchell, Murrindindi and Strathbogie local government areas. The new organisation will bring together the deep community connections, shared values and specialist expertise of both entities. Services will span general practice, allied health, disability support, mental health, early childhood, family services, aged care and community wellbeing, delivered from sites in Broadford, Kinglake, Kyneton, Romsey, Seymour, Sunbury and Wallan, with additional outreach into surrounding.
About the Role
Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counsellors provide counselling, assessment, and care and recovery support to clients experiencing alcohol and other drug-related challenges. The role involves conducting comprehensive assessments and delivering evidence-based counselling interventions to help clients and their family members change harmful behaviours and build their capacity to manage challenges related to substance abuse.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and provide therapeutic interventions using evidence-based models
- Develop and review treatment plans in collaboration with clients and families
- Deliver group and one-on-one counselling and case support
- Liaise with referring services and community partners to coordinate client care
- Support family-inclusive practice and dual diagnosis frameworks where relevant
- Maintain accurate records, client data and progress notes
- Participate in team planning, quality improvement, and service evaluation activities
- Attend relevant meetings and supervision sessions
- Contribute to sector collaboration and partnership development
- Promote inclusive, respectful and trauma-informed engagement with clients and communities

Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this position, you will require:
- Qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. social work, psychology, nursing, allied health)
- Certificate IV in AOD or completion of AOD core competencies (or willingness to complete within 12 months)
- A current National Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and valid Working with Children Check
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
