The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse, this is your opportunity to provide nursing support and care for clients of the Geelong Withdrawal Unit and support clients seeking to recover from addiction.

Reporting to the Nurse Team Leader, this full-time role is contracted until July 2026, located in Corio, VIC.

How you will make an impact

  • Ensure clients are inducted into the programme, understand their treatment plan and receive withdrawal medication respectfully and in line with medication charts
  • Conduct clinical observations, address immediate medical needs and accurately document and report outcomes
  • Welcome clients, encourage participation in the programme and actively involve them in their recovery while ensuring they feel heard
  • Communicate client activities and care needs clearly at handovers, liaise with police, ambulance and other professionals and maintain collaborative relationships with AOD support staff
  • Identify and report risks and incidents, take preventative action in line with TSA procedures and maintain accurate client records

Key Selection Criteria

What you will bring

  • Degree or equivalent in Nursing and a current Div 1 Registration.
  • Several years nursing experience working in mental health or acute nursing desirable.
  • Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Competencies CHCAOD 2C, 6B, 8C, 9C AND 10A or working towards.
  • Experience in AOD sector service delivery and skills in managing challenging behaviours.
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence and employee Working with Children's Check
