South East Catalyst Program, Narre Warren now open for referra

Posted to ENEWS for Suzanne Hanrahan on behalf of Uniting.

Uniting ReGen’s South East Catalyst Program is now accepting referrals for its August 2018 program. Catalyst is an evidence based non residential rehabilitation program for clients struggling with alcohol or other substance use issues, who are willing to commit to abstinence for the six weeks of the program. The program is based on the Catalyst program in Coburg, and it has been running successfully in Narre Warren since November 2015. There is no cost to the program, and clients receive a Myki card to enable them to get to the program every day. It runs from approximately 9.30am to 3pm every weekday. The aim of the program is to help clients develop new coping strategies using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach. The program also comprises Nutrition, Relaxation, Yoga, Gym, and Art Therapy to promote a healthy lifestyle and create engagement with other meaningful activities, as well as one-on-one support. It is a closed group with a maximum of 12 participants, and is held at 55 Webb St Narre Warren, which is co located with Connections Uniting.

Clients will need to complete a residential or non residential withdrawal prior to starting the program. This can include monitoring for clients who have already completed their withdrawal. Clients are also required to attend an Information Session about the program, and an individual treatment planning appointment with Catalyst staff.

The program is scheduled to start on August 27, 2018. Please be aware that spaces are limited and the next program for new clients who miss out on the August episode will be referred to the next full episode of the program. Please note that the next full episode of the program will start on November 12 as we have a 3 week Refresher in October for past program participants. As usual we will have a Standby list for clients once spaces in the program fill up, for clients who are happy to wait in case a space becomes available.

For more information about the program, please refer to our website, www.regen.org.au/catalyst. To refer clients to the program, please fax through the client’s initial screener, comprehensive assessment, release of information form and the referral form (which is available on our website) to South East Catalyst on (03) 8790 3519, or email with attached documents to cforde@vt.uniting.org.
