SUMMARY:Specialist Family Violence Advisor Showcase 2026: A celebration of family violence practice in AOD and Mental Health and Wellbeing services
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Specialist Family Violence (SFVA) Showcase 2026\, bringing together leaders and practitioners from the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) and Mental Health and Wellbeing sectors. Connect with peers and the SFVAs over lunch before the showcase begins at 1 PM. \nAcross Victoria\, SFVAs bring highly specialised clinical and systems expertise in understanding how intersectional family violence risk emerges in practice\, and how services can respond safely and effectively within complex service environments. \nThrough a series of short project presentations\, SFVAs will highlight how MARAM is being translated from policy into practice across AOD and Mental Health services. \nLeaders will gain grounded insight and practical examples of the initiatives and practice improvements being led by SFVAs across AOD and Mental Health and Wellbeing services. The showcase celebrates the significant work underway across the sector to strengthen responses to family violence and improve outcomes for the people these services support. \n\nTo attend the event\, register here

SUMMARY:Solving the Alcohol Puzzle: Pharmacotherapy for Alcohol
DESCRIPTION:For many years\, support for people wanting to reduce harmful alcohol use has focused heavily on one pathway – abstinence. While this may be a necessary path for some\, many clients are seeking alternative ways to change their drinking and workers are looking for practical options to offer them. \nIn this webinar\, Dr Paul MacCartney (GP and Addiction Medicine Specialist) and the team from Uniting will share a holistic\, evidence-informed pathway that is changing outcomes for clients and the services that support them. Through real-world examples and practice-focused discussion\, they’ll unpack how pharmacotherapy and collaborative care can be used as a meaningful part of treatment planning. \nYou’ll explore: \n\nThe impact of alcohol use on clients\, families and communities\nAlternatives for people stuck on the “detox-relapse” cycle\nHow AOD workers\, GPs and specialist services can partner to get the best outcomes for clients\n\nThis session is ideal for AOD workers\, GPs\, clinicians and anyone wanting to feel more confident talking about and working with pharmacotherapy as part of alcohol treatment for the people they support. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Victorian AOD Service Providers Conference 2025
DESCRIPTION:VAADA is inviting you to attend the Victorian AOD Service Providers Conference \nFriday 20 June 2025\n\n\n\n\nThe annual Victorian AOD Service Providers Conference brings together Alcohol and Other Drug Workers\, CEO’s and Managers within State Funded Services to listen to informative key-note presentations\, join break-out sessions\, share practice wisdom\, network and connect with other AOD staff and services. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom Policy to People: Centring Communities in Our Response \nFor the Victorian alcohol and other drugs sector\, getting policy right is absolutely critical. From drug checking and public intoxication to bold plans and strategies\, thoughtfully designed and responsive policy can enable access\, equity\, and dignity for people affected by alcohol and other drugs—while poor policy risks deepening harm and disconnection. \nJoin us at this year’s AOD Service Providers Conference as we explore how to better align policy with the needs and voices of those it ultimately affects. Just as we work to translate policy evidence into meaningful\, person-centred practice\, we must also work in reverse – ensuring that the experiences and aspirations of people with lived and living experience are not only heard\, but are central to shaping future policy directions. \nFrom Policy to People reflects the importance of bridging the gap between public policy making and the realities faced by individuals\, families\, and communities impacted by alcohol and other drugs. The program will feature keynote speakers addressing aspects of this process\, along with breakout sessions that explore the theme in more detail and in relation to specific cohorts and contexts. \nAs always\, the conference provides a valuable opportunity to reconnect with colleagues\, share insights\, and strengthen networks across the AOD sector. \nMore details on speakers and presentations to follow. \nThis will be an in-person event. Registration is essential. \nThe Service Providers Conference is a free event for workers in the Victorian Alcohol and Other Drugs sector.\nPlease note: a ticket cancellation policy now applies; click here for more details.
