DESCRIPTION:Hello Victorian AOD Peer Workforce! \nIt’s that time again and we are very excited to announce that we have a date locked in for the next Victorian AOD Peer Workforce Community of Practice (CoP). \nAs a peer worker\, we would like you to participate in the CoP to contribute to the growth of Victoria’s AOD peer workforce. The CoP serves as an opportunity for you to network with other Peer Workers around the state\, to celebrate successes\, share difficulties\, feedback to agency\, community and government and explore new opportunities. \nWhat is the Community of Practice?: \nThe Self Help Addiction Resource Centre (SHARC) currently facilitates the AOD Peer Workforce Community of Practice supported by the Department of Health (DH). \nThe Community of Practice (CoP) for the AOD Peer Workforce supports and cultivates the existing and emerging Peer Workforce and seeks to draw upon the collective knowledge\, experiences\, and resources of our community to provide: \n\nContinuous professional development\nCollegiate support to underpin sharing\, resourcing and collaborative problem solving\nOpportunities for consultation and feedback to enhance the development of the Peer Workforce\n\nWe invite you to attend the next Community of Practice: \nDate: Tuesday 21st April 2026 \nTime: 11:00am – 2:00pm \nLocation: SHARC\, Gordon Storey Memorial Hall\, 140 Grange Road Carnegie VIC \nWe really encourage you to contribute to the agenda as well. SUMMARY:SHARC Peer Facilitator Training
DESCRIPTION:Hello from the Team here at Peer Projects! \nWe are thrilled to announce that registrations for our next Peer Facilitator Training are now open. \nThis 1-day training is specifically designed to upskill peer workers to develop and facilitate groups from a lived experience perspective within formalised settings. Specific training in group facilitation can be incredibly beneficial as delivering and developing peer support groups are often an integral part of peer work roles. This training will assist peer workers to be able to maintain the roles and responsibilities of a facilitator whilst also remaining a ‘peer’ in the group. \nEligibility: This training is free for AOD Peer Workers in state-funded services in Victoria. \nAs this training is currently only available for those who are in a Victorian state funded AOD Peer Work role\, we request that you only fill out a questionnaire if this is you. For those who do not meet this criterion\, please stay updated on our mailing list for when there is an available training for you. \nWhen: Friday the 8th of May 2026 – 9:30am – 4:00pm\, \nWhere: Face to face training\, details of location to be sent once registered \nSHARC’s Peer Facilitator Training aims for participants to: \n\nUnderstand the fundamental concepts and values underpinning peer support\, peer work and the Victorian AOD LEW\nIdentify and apply the important qualities\, attributes and skills of a peer facilitator\nIdentify and apply the practice of maintaining boundaries in a peer support group\nExplore different types of groups and approaches that can be adopted by peer facilitators\nExplore what is important to consider in developing the framework for a peer support group\nIdentify and apply ways to address group issues whilst minimising power imbalances and maintaining group safety\nUnderstand how to co-facilitate groups as part of a multi-disciplinary team\nExplore the importance of on-going review processes that involve all stakeholders\n\nIf you or anybody you know who is in a Victorian AOD Peer Work role and facilitates groups as part of their role\, or is interested in learning about group facilitation\, then please register and share the link with your networks accordingly. \nRegistrations are sure to fill up fast so make sure you register your interest as soon as possible if you would like to attend the training via the following link: \nSHARC Peer Facilitator Training Registration Questionnaire – Fill out form  – Please note that registrations of interest for the training close by COB Wednesday the 22nd of April 2026 \nFor any questions regarding the training please email peersupport@sharc.org.au \nThanks \nPeer Projects Team.
