Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner with relevant Alcohol and Drug experience to join our Withdrawal Services Unit located in Dandenong.

The Nurse Practitioner will practice across the 6 bed Youth Residential Withdrawal unit and the Non-Residential Withdrawal outreach team both located in Dandenong. Working under the supervision of our Addiction Medicine Specialist and in collaboration with the client's general practitioner, the Nurse Practitioner has an opportunity to practice to their full scope and witness the positive impact of their work.

The role is Permanent Part-time working 22.8 hours per week.

The Role

The Nurse Practitioner will provide clinical leadership, assessment, treatment planning and the clinical management of clients in the 6-bed youth residential withdrawal unit, and the Non-residential withdrawal program, both located in Dandenong. Working under the supervision of the Windana Addiction Medicine Specialist, and in collaboration with the client's community General Practitioner the Nurse Practitioner works to their full scope of practice ensuring the individual receives contemporary, evidence-based treatment to support them in their withdrawal from problematic alcohol or drug use and identify and meet their health goals.

The nurse practitioner works with clients both in the residential setting and on occasion may outreach to the clients' homes with the non-residential withdrawal team.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Completed Master of Nurse Practitioner qualification or equivalent NMBA approved qualification which includes an approved Therapeutic Medication Module
  • Current APHRA Registration and Endorsement
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in drug and alcohol, competent in the assessment of intoxication and withdrawal services
