Windana Drug and Alcohol Recovery Inc. is a leading Victorian-based drug and alcohol treatment organisation.

For more than 30 years, we have been helping people rebuild their lives in a safe, caring environment, supporting our clients wherever they are in the recovery process.

The Non-Residential Withdrawal (NRW) team delivers non-residential withdrawal support for people seeking to reduce or cease problematic drug and alcohol use whilst remaining in their own home environment.  The services will be provided to clients that are low risk and have an identified support worker and stable accommodation.

The primary focus of this position is to work alongside the Registered nurse in the South East Melbourne catchment to supplement health care interventions to clients in the program. The role is situated in the SECADA Consortium in Dandenong and provides outreach support to clients situated in Casey, Cardinia and greater Dandenong. The role reports to the Manager of the Withdrawal and Coordinated Care Program.

This position is suited to an RN Div 2 or Case Worker with at least 2 years’ experience in the Alcohol and Drug sector. Mandatory qualifications required for this position is Registration with APHRA as an Enrolled nurse division 2 with medication endorsement, or Certificate IV or Diploma in AOD and Mental Health OR the capacity to complete studies whilst in employment.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Capacity to provide AOD interventions in an outreach capacity in collaboration with the client’s GP and support team
  • Skills in a range of counselling approaches relevant to individual’s with substance abuse history and trauma
  • Ability to assess risk in the outreach environment ensuring safety of both client and staff
  • Capacity to work with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
