Why this role matter

The Eastern Bridge Alcohol and Other Drugs Residential Program offer a 40- bed residential program for men & women to address issues caused by Alcohol & other drugs. A combination of individual case management and support, group work, life skills, self-awareness and staff role modelling are used to encourage participants to make positive changes.

Individuals are supported to:

  • Develop appropriate life skills & resources
  • Develop the right support from their established or newly developed support mechanisms
  • Develop the necessary support services to ensure a recovery-oriented treatment journey

About the role

We are currently seeking values-driven and proactive Casual AOD Support Workers reporting to the Support Work Coordinator. You will provide practical and emotional support and facilitation of program engagement to the Residential Rehabilitation participants, who have alcohol and/or other drug use problems to assist in meeting the holistic needs of participants to improve their health and wellbeing.

You will successfully

  • Develop effective relationships and offering relevant intervention including psycho-social educational groups
  • Organise a range of appropriate enjoyable social activities to ensure participants remain actively engaged
  • Work as part of a team along with case managers and other support workers to achieve the best outcomes for the participants
  • Manage participant’s behaviour in line with the program policies, which may include participant exits relating to program rule breaches
  • Keep accurate up to date client records and data in accordance with TSA standards
  • Conduct scheduled and random breathalyser and urine screenings in line with shift requirements
  • Supervise participants while on outings or engaged in environmental care as required

The casual positions are located at our Eastern Bridge Program, The Basin, VIC. This role requires availability for morning, afternoon, sleepover and active night shifts. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 4.

You will have

  • Degree qualification in social work, psychology, addiction counselling or related discipline
  • Certificate IV(or equivalent) in the application of AOD interventions or the four competencies required to work within the AOD sector
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment and AOD sector
  • Sound experience of working with women from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs
  • Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent, minimum. Diploma preferred
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police check
  • Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
