Why This Role Matters:
The Geelong Withdrawal Unit is a 14-bed community detox service which provides a residential medicated withdrawal service for those who are seeking to withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs. Clients reside at Geelong Withdrawal Unit during their episode of care and are provided with all meals and facilities.

We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling and withdrawal management services). About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated AOD Support Worker in a casual capacity. The Geelong Withdrawal Unit operates 24/7 incorporating morning, afternoon/evening and night shifts and is located in Corio.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 4.1
You will successfully:
- Support clients of the Geelong Withdrawal Unit through the process of withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs
- Support and work in partnership with nursing staff to offer the activities and to adhere to the timetables of the withdrawal unit program
- Support clients immediate psychosocial needs
- Attend Handover Meetings
- Address workplace hazards as per TSA procedure.
- Maintain accurate, up to date client records and data for all clients in accordance with TSA standards and procedures using TSA information systems.
- Available to work a morning shift and work an evening shift which has a sleepover component

About You:
- Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Competencies CHCAOD 2C, 6B, 8C, 9C or willing to obtain within 12 months
- Clinical knowledge of dual diagnosis
- Practical experience in AOD sector service delivery, with an understanding of addictive behaviour and drugs, both illicit and licit desirable
- Skills in managing challenging behaviours
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Working with Children Check
- A current First Aid certificate
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
