About Us

Ballarat Community Health (BCH) provides a broad range of services to the community of Ballarat, with outreach services delivered in the Central Highlands region and beyond. In partnership with the community, we create opportunities and supportive environments which empower people to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles, as well as preventing and managing illnesses. Our Social Support team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced AOD Youth Outreach Worker, to provide Alcohol and Other Drug Youth Outreach services across the Central Highlands region.

The Opportunity

The primary purpose of the Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Youth Outreach Worker is to provide clinical assessment and case management on an outreach basis to young people with alcohol and other drug concerns in their own environment or at BCH facilities.

You will be responsible for the provision of secondary consultation, and health promotion, working with mandated and voluntary clients with co-occurring disorders including AOD, Mental Health and Acquired Brain Injury.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the principles and practise of working with youth
  • Proven skills in the application of assessment, case coordination, case management, case formulation and development of individual treatment plans and discharge planning
  • Knowledge of current alcohol and other drug interventions

Also desirable:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in AOD and Mental Health or related human services field
