Drug Courts are growing, from Dandenong Magistrates Court to Melbourne CBD and next year to regional Victoria. The County Court Drug and Alcohol Court is scheduled to start later in 2020.

How do they work? What is the evidence of effectiveness?

A post-sentence program focusing on the rehabilitation and treatment of offenders with a drug and or alcohol dependency, drug courts offer an opportunity to escape the cycle of substance related offending.

Tony was appointed a Magistrate in 2008, having been the Managing Director of Victoria Legal Aid since 2000.

Assigned to Victoria’s then only Drug Court in 2012, Tony was appointed as the Drug Court Supervising Magistrate and assigned to the Drug Court Melbourne in 2017. He is also member of the Victorian Premier’s Ice Action Taskforce.
