Dr Calais Ferreira will provide an introduction to and overview of epidemiological evidence relating to physical, mental and social outcomes among young people in Australia, including emerging evidence. He will also discuss his and others’ research on twins and what this can tell us about differences and similarities in life course, including risks and protective factors to development, outcomes and quality of life.
Lucas is a Research fellow in the Justice Health Unit (Centre for Health Equity) and at the Twins Research unit (Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics) at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on traditional and genetic epidemiology to research risk factors for physical, mental and social outcomes in the population. Lucas is a co-creator of the Brazilian Twin Registry and has led collaborative efforts within the International Network of Twin registries. He has also conducted and facilitated several initiatives aimed at knowledge translation and stakeholder engagement in scientific research.
