$29 – $33Event Navigation
You are invited to an exclusive AOD double feature at the iconic Astor Theatre to celebrate Support. Don’t Punish day on Saturday 25th June.
In conjunction with other leading AOD organisations, Drug Policy Australia is screening a double feature of The Fix, and Elvis a classic Australian film starring Health Ledger and Geoffrey Rush in a night of entertainment and enlightenment.
Johann Hari will join us live from London talking about the making of The Fix and his new bestselling book, Stolen Focus.
“The Fix,” narrated by Samuel L Jackson and based on Johann Hari’s ‘Chasing the Scream’, explores the drug wars in the United States and society’s misunderstanding of drugs and addiction.
“Elvis” is a movie extravaganza by Baz Luhrmann starring Austin Butler and Oscar winner Tom Hanks explores the life and music of Elvis Presley from his early life in Tennessee and his meteoritic rise to almost mythical status as the most famous performer in history.
There will be information tables from Australia’s leading Alcohol and Other Drug NGOs, Naloxone demonstrations, book sales, drug testing kits, fentanyl testing strips and other merchandise available.
“We can end this fucking drug war. It is hollow; it has been a catastrophe; it’s led to disastrous outcomes. For every person that joins the fight, more lives are saved.” – Johann Hari
