An overview of Windana’s treatment programs and Therapeutic Community

Benn Veenker – Senior AOD Practitioner and Peer Lead Charlie Wood, Windana

Benn has been working at Windana for the past 18 months. Prior to that he had worked in the AOD sector for more than 5 years, initially starting in the private sector and then moving across to the public sector. Benn has been involved in different settings, including in-patient detox/rehab, out-patient community health settings and youth AOD service settings. Benn has worked in a number of roles, including intake and assessment worker, support worker, AOD counsellor, group facilitator, supervisor and now senior AOD practitioner. Benn is highly dedicated and skilled professional, is well equipped to work with complex cases and is especially passionate about recovery and assisting client and colleagues alike to live healthy and meaningful lives.

Learning Objectives:                               

This warm and friendly environment in the heart of the CBD (10 min walk from Flinders Street Station) gives you the opportunity to build knowledge about this important facility, its approach and principles to recovery.  Benn will be joined in the presentation by a Peer Support Leader.   This session will help you in your work with consumers to know what Windana uniquely offers and how it works to support people who have decided to seek help with their drug and alcohol issues. The what and how should help you to match consumer needs through a firmer understanding of the Windana experience.
