FreeEvent Navigation
Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) frontline workers play an important and unique role in hep C elimination in Australia. This education program targets those working at the frontline of primary, secondary and pharmacy NSPs, and consists of an online learning component followed by a 3-hour interactive workshop. Participants who have successfully completed both components of this course will leave with improved knowledge and confidence to have conversations with people in the NSP about hep C and facilitate linking into testing and treatment.
Learning Outcomes:
• Describe what hep C is, how it can be transmitted, and ways to minimise transmission
• Recognise the stages of behavioural change people go through and identify effective communication techniques to engage with people at each stage
• Describe how hep C and liver disease are tested
• Recognise the treatment options for hep C and the importance to communicate adherence to treatment
• Describe ongoing hep C prevention and care, including follow-up testing and ongoing liver assessment
• Identify the local referral pathways by which people can seek hep C testing and treatment, and how to link people into hep C care
This workshop is free to attend, morning tea and lunch will be provided.
