Forensic Fundamentals Summary
Forensic Fundamentals is a half-day online forensic clinical training session for Victorian Alcohol and other Drug Workers.
Learning Outcomes
The Forensic Fundamentals training session will provide attendees with information and clinical skills for working with forensic clients. The aim of the training is to enhance key clinical skills to enable clinicians to better work with forensic clients and the capability of clinicians to work collaboratively with Justice colleagues managing forensic clients in the community.
What is covered?
This training will cover the below learning outcomes:
- Increased knowledge to support forensic practice, in the following areas:
– The RNR model of offender-rehabilitation;
– The links between AOD use and offending;
– Building motivation in forensic clients;
– Treatment interfering behaviours when managing forensic clients;
– The importance of setting boundaries with clients;
– Strategies to increase safety;
– The value of clinical supervision and reflective practice;
– Stress management and self-care;
– Applying collaborative practice;
– Information sharing in forensic contexts.
- Skills-practice in Managing treatment interfering behaviours and managing aggression in forensic clients.
- Awareness of the Forensic Fundamentals Resource Website to support ongoing learning for their work with forensic clients.
