Information Session for referrers

Curran Place is holding an online information session for people who refer consumers to our facility. We plan to talk through common scenarios that result in consumers leaving the program early, either through self-initiated exit or exit by staff.

The aim of the session is to increase the chances that consumers will complete their withdrawal and transition to the rehabilitation program that they are booked to attend.

Topics include,

• tobacco cessation preparedness,
• levels of substance use in the week prior to admission,
• role of medications,
• most common behaviours that result in exit from the program,
• group dynamics,
• impact on other consumers
• assessment of behavioural challenges,
• preadmission meetings,
• interactions with staff and
• the art of exiting in a manner that will allow the consumer to return in the future.
