Peer Worker – Drug Alcohol and Addiction

Part Time (0.4 EFT) Ongoing | Dandenong & Outreach Services

Monash Health is seeking a Consumer Peer Worker to join our Needle & Syringe Program (NSP) team.

Drawing on your lived or living experience of alcohol and other drug use, you will provide peer support, harm reduction education, advocacy and service navigation to individuals accessing the NSP. This role combines onsite and outreach work across the Greater Dandenong, Casey and Frankston communities.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-on-one peer support and recovery-focused conversations.
  • Delivering harm reduction information, education and brief interventions.
  • Supporting access to treatment, health and community services.
  • Co-facilitating peer recovery groups and psychoeducation activities.
  • Assisting with NSP outreach services and community engagement.
  • Promoting safer injecting practices and reducing stigma.

About You

You will bring:

  • Lived or living experience of alcohol and other drug use.
  • Ability to use your experience to inspire hope and support recovery.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills.
  • Commitment to harm reduction and person-centred practice.
  • Current Victorian Driver Licence.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, AOD, Community Services or related field.
  • Intentional Peer Support (IPS) training.
  • Experience working within AOD, mental health or community services.
